My last engagement session of 2021! Whew, what a whirlwind 2021 was with all of the 2020 reschedules on top of a typical year. It was exhausting, but Renee and Joe’s engagement photos in Lancaster were the perfect way to wrap up the year!
Renee and Joe met…on a dating app! I always love a good dating app story. Such a sign of the current dating times. In December 2019, a few weeks after they “made it official”, Joe called Renee from a London cab. The taxi driver was a Nigerian British man in his 60s who went by the name of Biggie. When Renee picked up, Biggie announced, “Miss! Miss lady! Right before he called you, this man said to me, ‘I’m going to marry this girl’!” Joe: I can’t believe you just did that to me! You sold me up the river faster than this cab is going! Biggie: No man, if you love this girl, you have to tell her. Joe: I do, but you just robbed me of that experience! Renee: Joe! It’s okay! I love you too!
WHAT. That’s the cutest thing and I sincerely hope Biggie is out there somewhere bringing even more lovebirds together.
Not long after, Renee and Joe decided to take their relationship to the next level. Joe made Renee her favorite dessert, a tiramisu, from scratch and collected a bunch of trinkets from their time together in a ball. Even from their earliest dates, he had already been saving things like golf balls and ticket stubs thinking he might use them in a proposal someday. He gave the ball to their adorable baby boy to hold and then told Renee to ask what was inside it. He wanted to include baby Marlowe in the proposal but still have it be centered on them and their relationship. The ring was inside the ball.
Again, WHAT. Ok, *that* is actually the cutest thing.
Speaking of cute, Renee and Joe chose to have their engagement photos (and a few family photos…couldn’t leave out little Marlowe!) done at Joe’s mom’s home in Lancaster, Ohio. It’s a gorgeous, wooded property full of trails, a creek, a forest, and all the nature. It made sense to use this location for their engagement photos not only because it’s a special place for Joe, but it’s super close to where they’ll be having their wedding this spring AND it definitely has a similar vibe. It was a no brainer.
Here are some of our favorites from their engagement photos in Lancaster!
