Kirsten and Mike’s fall themed wedding was EVERYTHING! Fall is always my busiest time of year as a photographer, so I rarely have time to do any of the fun fall activities. But, being a part of this wedding made up for that a little bit, and you’ll see why in a minute!
Kirsten and Mike started the day together by decorating the beautiful Shadblow Shelter at Blendon Woods Metro Park. They decked it out with pumpkins, fall leaves, corn stalks, and all the pretty fall decor. After they both got ready, we met in the woods behind the shelter for their first look. It was the perfect spot…a cute wooden bridge over a little valley and creek surrounded by the greens and yellows of the forest. It was such a gorgeous spot for them to spend a little alone time before the wedding. We wandered through the woods together, snapping photos and enjoying each other’s company before heading back to the shelter for the ceremony.
The fall themed wedding ceremony was exactly my kind of ceremony. First, Shadblow Shelter is absolutely gorgeous. Its unique design is so beautiful and it’s completely surrounded by the beautiful Blendon Woods. It’s stunning. Second, Kirsten and Mike kept their celebration small with only their family and closest friends. I’ve said it a million times, but I adore small, intimate weddings (Antonio and I had one ourselves!). So, anytime I get to photograph one, I feel right at home. And, finally, the ceremony itself was so special. It was officiated by a good friend, who did a wonderful job at personalizing the ceremony for them. Their parents played music for the processional and recessional. The personalization of it all was so special and I just loved it.
After the ceremony, the party really got started. Kirsten, Mike, Antonio, and I went back out for some more photos and Kirsten and Mike did some barefoot swing dancing in the middle of the road (that’s how they met!). People were making s’mores in the gorgeous fire place. Guests were sipping hot cider while carving their pumpkins. And, after traveling to Old Bag o’ Nails for dinner, the drinks were flowing. It was the perfect way to close out this unique fall themed wedding!
Kirsten and Mike, thanks so much for including us in your celebration! Your love is infectious and we’re so lucky to have been able to document that. We wish you a lifetime of walks in the woods, swing dancing, and laughter together!
