2020 has been the year of the intimate, backyard wedding and I’m here for it. I’m pretty sure I’ve told Antonio 8,189,477 times that if I could shoot only backyard weddings for the rest of my life, I’d be happy. And if they all were as beautiful as Kayla and Britt’s, I’d be ecstatic.
Kayla and Britt met 10 years ago in October, which is so sweet given that they planned their wedding for 10.10.2020. They met through a mutual friend, who just so happened to be the officiant at their wedding. I’m obsessed with how full circle this all is!
As if this all isn’t perfect enough already, Kayla and Britt actually have two proposal stories! The first was a sweet, quiet moment with just the two of them. They were watching TV together, curled up on the couch with their pups, when Kayla turned to Britt and asked her to marry her. Britt was thinking the exact same thing at that exact moment. *swoon*
The second proposal was a little more formal. Kayla had a custom ring made for Britt and recruited a couple of Britt’s friends to help her plan the sweetest proposal. Together, they decorated a little area at Creekside with string lights, a lit up “Marry Me” sign, and a collage of their photos from throughout the years. After dinner, they took a walk out to the decorated area, where Kayla got down on one knee beneath the string lights and popped the question once again.
Keeping up with the string light theme, Kayla and Britt decorated their beautiful backyard with endless amounts of string lights, flowers, and mementos of their time together. It was an absolute dream. I’ll let the photos of their beautiful, intimate backyard wedding speak for themselves…
