Kaitlynn & Tim | Married

I’m seeing a trend with my recent weddings, and feel like I’m repeating myself over and over again in my blog posts, but I just can’t help it! Kaitlynn and Tim are the kind of clients I dream about. They are so kind and considerate and genuinely interested in us as people. They’re fun and adventurous and don’t take themselves too seriously (as you’ll see in these photos of their Via Vecchia wedding celebration!). They love each other, their friends, and their family so hard. And, (bonus!), they truly value photography and are so grateful for the experience we’ve provided for them. THIS is why we do what we do.

Kaitlynn and Tim’s wedding day was exactly as I expected – hilarious, fun, high-energy, gorgeous, classy, and so romantic.

We started the day by popping bottles and having random dance parties with Kaitlynn and her girls at The Renaissance in downtown Columbus. After Kaitlynn and Tim both fancied themselves up, we met outside for their first look on the rooftop of the Renaissance. This first look was one of the good ones – so many tears, even more laughs, and Tim’s iconic wrap-you-up-as-hard-as-possible hug.

After the first look, it was time to get these two hitched! Their ceremony was at the St. Thomas More Newman Center on Ohio State’s campus. They had a traditional Catholic mass, but, in true Kaitlynn and Tim style, the priest shook things up a bit. He delivered a beautiful, hilarious, and uniquely “them” sermon, which was so meaningful and touching. He also included their family and friends throughout the ceremony, including one super special moment when he requested that they cross the aisle and join together to pray over the newlyweds. It was a super sweet moment that made for a pretty epic photo!

After the wedding, we hopped on the bus with the bridal party for photos. Our first stop was Mapfre Stadium, home of the Columbus Crew Soccer Club. Given Tim’s VIP status around there (he’s kinda a big deal), we got some killer photos in the locker room and on the field. They even had the jumbotron customized! After a few photos with it, they surprised their bridal party with customized welcome messages for each of them. So damn thoughtful!

We finished up photos at Genoa Park, where we got a little goofy and sassy. I love Genoa for it’s great architectural elements and killer skyline view.

Finally, we headed south for their Via Vecchia wedding reception. But, before anything else could happen, they had one more surprise for their bridal party – SHOT ROULETTE! If this is a new concept to you, as it was to me, it’s essentially my worst nightmare wrapped up into a very photogenic series of moments. Each person has to blindly draw a mini bottle of liquor from a bag and shoot it. No tradesies! Some were very excited about their choice. Others, not so much…

Via Vecchia’s new space is super industrial, but with the added chandeliers and string lights and gorgeous florals from Vessel and styling by Kate from Aisle & Co., it had a classic, chic, romantic vibe. The perfect place to end the night eating, drinking, dancing, and having air guitar performances with friends.

Kaitlynn and Tim – thank you so much for choosing me as your photographer. I’m so thankful for you both and will forever cherish these awesome memories we’ve made together. I hope you guys enjoy a lifetime of emotional romantic gestures, Columbus Crew games, and so much love.
