Being asked to photograph a Jamaican wedding is every photographer’s dream. This dream came true for me when Kevin and Jieun decided to ditch their Columbus wedding plans and elope in Jamaica. An ELOPEMENT in JAMAICA?! If you know me at all, you know my answer was a big, fat HECK YES. So, Antonio and I packed our bags (which was mostly photography gear, of course) and headed south for five days of glorious sun, sand, and wedded bliss.
On the day of the wedding, we met Jieun at the resort salon where she had her hair and makeup done. Once finished, we then headed back to their suite where Kevin helped her put on her dress. It was so romantic to watch them getting ready together!
We then wandered around the resort grounds, being careful to avoid the nude area of the beach haha! We took advantage of the palm trees and the lush greenery around the grounds and created some BEAUTIFUL photos.
It was soon time for the ceremony, which took place on the beach. It was just the two of them and the officiant and it was perfect. After the ceremony, the resort planned a little cake cutting and champagne toast. Antonio and I were lucky enough to get to share in that with Kevin and Jieun!
Afterwards, we hopped in a taxi bus and cruised the coast for some photos. Our driver was so great, stopping anytime I screamed about something beautiful. He even took us off the beaten path to an area I’m sure hasn’t been explored by many people in wedding attire. That was definitely my favorite part of the day.
Finally, it was time to part ways and allow the newlyweds to enjoy some alone time. We snapped a few photos of them at their private beach dinner before calling it a night.
Kevin and Jieun, thank you so much for sharing this adventure with us. We are so happy you found us and even more happy you found each other. We wish you a lifetime of romantic adventures just like this!
